Plug-Cut Smallmouth, thought you bass nuts would like this

I got this girl a few weeks ago trolling for springers. It was the wierdest "salmon" bite I had ever seen!! Set the hook and look who was home. I hate to say my best smallie ever came while not targeting them but oh well!! I am a bass freak so this was a great fish to see. She is still out there waiting for you

By the way, please fill me in on details of the "plug-cut". I'm not familiar with the lingo of salmon/steelhead fishers yet.

I learn something everyday!! For rigging the hooks, do you use a tandem rig: hook in the front towards the cut side and a hook in the tail so that it "swims" similar to flatfish??

On a different note, I have used frozen anchovys, sardines, smelt etc. as "cheater bait" when all other baits fail. Similar to nightcrawlers, in a way!!

no scale and I wasn't about to kill her. She is still out there and much fatter now I am sure
