Default living in poison land

I have no choice but to fish poison water ofen here in the desert.

I live near a res. .American falls Res is just a few miles away .

Its large body of water for around here and is filled with large trout .
Last week there was a fish derby . Largest fish got 500$

At the weigh in I saw three fish between 7 and 8 lbs.
I saw three fish between 8 and 9 lbs.
And two fish between 9 and 10 lbs.
One was a hybred cutt. and the others were all Rainbow.

Question for all you smart people .

All the fish were stiff with rigor except the two largest fish.
The two largest fish were limp .

How long does rigor take to relax with a fish.

I have no reason to suspect cheating but it seemed strange ... All the fish wer stiff except the two largest fish.........

Contest started at 6 Am and weigh in was at 5PM..

If they were caught and kept in ice I would expect about any fish caught in that time frame to still be stiff. If they were caught early in the day and left to get warm they may have made it through the rigor stage.

Its hard to say. What was the air and water temp that day?

If they were kept in a live well or on a stringer in the water they may have just died right before weigh in and not gone into rigor.

I wouldnt worry myself with thoughts of cheating based just on the fish being limp.

The other fish at weigh in all looked like fish caught that day .
Stiff and bright .

It was a nice day 70,s no wind early but got windy as the day went on.
The fish were taken from a cooler with water only .
I noticed that there were many scales in the water and that the fish looked beat up .....
Lots of scales missing and soft looking .....

Just something thats been returning to my thoughts....

Just wondering ...... Thanks
