TCF100 color #112, Zuchinni
If you want to be one of the 'anyone can catch a TUNA! in July' crowd I'd drag a bunch of those behind the boat at 6 knots.

#1 zucchini
#2 green/yellow
Never drug anything else. Guess I'm one of the 'anyone can catch a TUNA! in July' crowd. Oh well, I had to start somewhere.
We troll at 7 knots.

Re: Name That Clone??
"Tuna in July" is a rip on the new tuna fishers by one of our old growth salty dogs. I think it is in good fun. But he is right .. . the fishing for albacore is pretty easy the first week in july. I am absolutely a 'TUNA in july' fisherman. I call it 'Grocery fishing' and load up the pantry for the year while the fishing is easy.
By September very few boats are consistently grinding the fish. Those are the guys to watch and learn from.
They know a few things.

Re: Name That Clone??
My favorite is the one that is getting bit that day. Mexican flags are the ones I have the most of though.

Re: Name That Clone??
White belly, going to light blue, going to gold & black stripes across the back. They have killed for the last two years. 2nd, white belly light blue back, 3rd mex. flag. My best one has been a green and yellow feather clone stuffed inside a big blue clone body. I have only one that I made up one day out of desperation, and it has been Number 1 every day since I put it it on.

Re: Name That Clone??
Sumo mini jet. I think it was the m-10 with mexican flag that caught a couple of fish. Home made lures kicked buttt on store bought lures Mexican flag, Zuchinni, Purple and black are all the colors you need.

Re: Name That Clone??
Thanks guys for getting me started on some good colors. I am making a good sized purchase from Berkley at a discount so wanted to get some good ones. It seems everyone is steering away from the tc-200 and sticking with the smaller ones. Should I just buy the smaller 100's or get a few packs of the larger ones as well?????

Re: Name That Clone??
stick with tc-100 in the zuchini, mexican flag, and purple/black. keep it simple, also load up on swim baits. dont limit yourself to just clones.

Re: Name That Clone??
Everybody seems to like the TC100's but I've only ever used the 200 size and they caught fish.
Maybe I need to try my 100's.
The Zukers only come in on size dont they? Unless you buy the $15 Marlin sized ones.

Re: Name That Clone??
I ordered a set of colors in Zuker and sevenstrand.
What color is a zuchinni ?
They sent me a very brightly colored thing ,,, I was expecting green and white ,,,, sort of....
The zuchini they sent is white and pink and green and yellow and red.
Is that the one???

Re: Name That Clone??
Chris .. 200's work too. The little clones are best for the first few weeks. I use the Mustad #21 hook. a 9/0, I think?

I was thinking of the grass skirts. The feathers look to come in two sizes.

Re: Name That Clone??
Um Yeah ... Ragnar named that one. He got like 5 TUNA! on in a few minutes. The only rod going off. When we asked him what he was dragging he said in a near perfect Samuel Jackson voice
'.. yeah that's my bad ..... Go ahead take out the money'
There's a fair amount of Quentin Tarantino in TUNA! fishing.
I really like the '5 point palm exploding TUNA! technique'

Re: Name That Clone??
If I could only choose one, it would be mexican flag. Fishes both Bright and dark days. If I could choose two, it would be zuchinni and black/purple.
