Reno results
Well I got my butt handed to me at Reno. I wasnt ready for the tough lane conditions. I threw my ball and all it did was go straight. My high score there was a 199 for 1 game with all the others a far cry from that. Well next time I will be more ready
We had a great trip though, made a little money or broke even , cant tell. Will post pics later.

Re: Reno results
ha ha ha Reno is a humbling experience is it not. I didn't throw the ball as well as I wanted too but I learned alot from both the experience and the cats class from Mike Jasnau. All I can say is I will practice practice and practice some more and I will get em next time! Sorry you had a tough time but learn from it and come back stronger. Tim

Re: Reno results
Did a Reno Nationals tourney MANY years ago with the same results. I've always thrown a big hook, so I was really lost. Had a great time otherwise, and didn't let my poor performance on the lane ruin the trip. It was a humbling experience and I learned a lot from it. At least you held your own with the other entertainment. I haven't been to Reno for probably 8 years, how is Reno these days?

I'm not much of a bowler but am curious and want to learn. What was diffrent that made the ball act that way? I'm just lucky to hit any of the pins at the end, but were going to play a bit this winter.

Re: Reno results
I shot 600 in team, then didn't hit 5 for doubles and singles...
Don't worry about how you bowled, just remember the time you had and learn from it.
Some of the world best bowlers will barely beat ya on that condition, and they are some of the best.
Fish on, they put a little heavier amount of lane conditioner down. No ball will hook in oil. It needs dry lane to hook.
On a Typical House Shot, there will be oil in the middle of the lane, say from 7 board on the right to 7 board on the left, with dry lane every where else. If you roll it right it gets into the dry part of the lane and naturally recovers. If you pull it a little left it hits the dry boards a little later down the lane but has less distance to recover. They actually funnel the bowling ball to the pocket.
Now on the national shot there is a greater volume of oil, over a greater part of the lane, no funnel effect. It put a premium on spares.

Re: Reno results
Oh yeah, bowled the state tournament in spokane 3 weeks ago and got some of my confidence back. I shot 2076 scratch all events, averaged 231 for the tourney. I am in 3rd for the state. Bowling tougher shots will make you a better bowler.

Re: Reno results
Now the people who had at least 300 rpm on the ball scored well. I would like to do it over. I came back and went back to my lanes here and bowled a 156-192-and a 215. I can do it, just need more experience on those lanes.
I think they should have a few more practice shots before starting doubles and singles instead of just 1 ball. just my .02

Re: Reno results
We have been putting up the national shot pattern on one pair of lanes at Silvercreek Lanes. People get a real quick eye opener when they come to practice.

Re: Reno results
I wish I would have known that before I went down there. I guess I should have asked.

Good practice is the PBA shark pattern.
