Here is the Saturday, pre-opening report.

I walked up the Deschutes about a mile to one of my favorite steelhead spots. I fished for about an hour and actually hooked, landed, and kept a clipped salmon! Unbelievable. It had to be a fluke. I saw one other fisherman off of the island at the mouth.

As I left the Deschutes and headed home, I was amazed at all of the nets in the river. I've seen the nets in the fall, but I really can't remember seeing SO MANY nets in the Columbia.

Sorry I can't give you the Sunday report. I can guess with all of the nets that it will take at least a day or two for things to pick up

Hey E.Dave, haven't seen you post for a while. You must be fishing all the time.
Any word on the nookies in the Umatilla?

Fishing all the time? Ha! Can you say, "Honey-Doo's?" Plus, work is rather demanding at the moment.

I'm a relatively new dad - one 9 month demands a lot of attention!

There are fish in the Umatilla right now - over 1100 so far with approx 100-150 over 3 mile dam each day. I'll fish early on Thursday or Friday morning at the Taco Time hole with everyone else! Can you say "Combat Fishing in Pendleton?" It's awesome! Everyone is really polite at the major holes.
