lower columbia sturgeon ??

anybody been fishing sturgeon on the chinook to grays river area?should be a good time to get them down there.interested in a report.if not i'll give you one tomorrow.fish on [img]images/icons/wink.gif[/img] scott

fished chinook today,landed 2 under legal and 4 legals.nice fat fish.beutiful day till about 2 then the wind came up.scotty [img]images/icons/tongue.gif[/img]

So what tide is best for sturgeon fishing in the Astoria area? I've heard different opinions: incoming, outgoing, through high, any time except slack, etc. Does it depend on the spot, e.g. deep hole vs flats?

I've had my boat since January and am anxious to start fishing down in that area. So I'm glad to hear that they are starting to show up.

Also what about bait? Smelt? Shrimp?
