Default Rainshadow Blanks

How do you guys compare these to Loomis or Lamiglass? Looking for a new rod or two and am wondering how they compare?

I would put them between the 2 but closer to a Loomis. Much better quality than a Lami IMHO but not as much as a Loomis.

I replaced 3 Loomis rods with Rainshdow's. That should tell you something. Im my opinion they are better then both Loomis and Lamiglas. A finished rod will cost less then a factory rod from either manufactuer, Plus you can get better components.

I've built a few,and really like them. Most guys I've talked to say they are like a GL3 in terms of sensitivity.

I really like mine. Even a guy with molasses quick reflexes like me can feel the bite.

I have never shattered a Rainshadow. I have to a Lamiglass, Daiwa, and Fenwick. I will never spend the money to buy a Loomis when I can have a 2 Rainshadows for the same price. Most sensitive rod without backbone worry I've ever held.

They are very good blanks. I had one made up
into a beautiful rod by TH and I've been quite
happy with it. Powerful and sensitive.

Similar to Loomis GL3 I'd say. I wouldn't want it
to be any thinner/stiffer such as the IMX or
GLX types are. You get more sensitivity, but you
also get ... breakage ... (arrgh!) on strong
fish like salmon and steelhead. It isn't a good
trade off.

IMHO

I have built rods for several years now. In my opinion as always Loomis is way to expensive for what you get. I feel that 40% of the money you pay is for the name.

Lamiglas has never let me down and there customer service is awesome. 100 series are a good rod, however if you want really sensative I would go with the certified pro.

Rainshadow is the best blank I have used to build a rod and are as sensative as a G. Loomis. They are a little heavier by a fraction. This is because the blank walls are thicker in turn making the blank stronger. In addition to there product Kerry and Bob are great guys and go out of there way to help.

I will say it again. No matter how sensative your rod is really does not matter if you do not know what a bite feels like.

I use a 9' 8-12 and a 9' 10-17 for steelhead. They are both extrmely sensative. I have friend who fished with a G. Loomis. I let him use one of my rainshadows on the river. He is sold on them.

Jim, How is that new tip top I replaced on your G. Loomis? This is twice now? hhhmmmmmmmmm

Actually G. Loomis is a great rod but why spend the money when you can get two rods that work the same and have the same quality?

Buy Custom!

I agree with the price thing and the rainshadow blanks compare to a gl3 loomis. Rumor has it that rainshadow is coming out with a modulus comparable to IMX.

Bought my first one last month from TH. A 1084C steelhead rod. Awsome rod and fishes second to none to the rest of my arsonel which includes the other rods mentioned in this post. One of the best bangs for the buck I have seen.

1141 is next on the list.

Rainshadow blanks..... I can't say enough about them!
First off, Batson Ent. is a top notch company to work with! Great products, outstanding customer service, and the highest quality control in the industry! Virtually every blank we receive is perfect!!! That is hard to say in the business!

As for the blanks, very clean, straight and sound!

I get asked how they compare to Loomis 20 times a week..
It's hard to compare one blank to another, I say they fish somewhere around a GL3, but their price point is incredible, we ca build a Rainshadow rod w/ the Sicti guides for less than you can buy a GL2 or Cert. Pro off the self, a custom rod for less than a factory rod with lesser components! What a deal!
Same warranty, better built rod, and it fishes just as well.. or better !!!

I have used this line a 1,000 times this year with clients... I am very fortunate to be able to fish any rod on the market! My boats are filled with Rainshadow blanks...

Thanks for letting me play!

I love these blanks. I just sprial wrapped a 1084 for myself and notice quite a bit of difference between this rod and my (formerly) favorite rod, a St. Croix SCII.

I have never fished a Loomis or Lami, but this rod is easily the best I have used. I also have had one of my best years steelheading so far, averaging 5 fish landed per trip. Coincidence? I like to think not.
