Default bass on the bite

i am on the phone with my good friend right now and he is at the south newport jetty who is slayn the bass and lingcod as we speak. he is using white grubs and is hooking fish almost every cast. the biggest bass has been about 4 pounds. he hasnt actually landed any lings but has lost three big boys due to the light gear. he was there last night and said he and a buddy caught easily over a 100 in 3 hours. just a heads up

Thanks for the report. It happens every year around this time. The Black's and Blues start feeding on crab larvae I believe. White grubs are the ticket.

I think I saw them there today! Well at least two guys who caught their limit no problem. There were a couple more guys who caught their limit of lings right near us as well. I only managed to catch myself a single rock fish but it was a blast none-the-less.

Oh yeah and all the fish I saw caught were towards the end of the jetty at least past the light, with most of the fish being caught on the ocean side.

And strangely enough there were some scuba divers out in the same area with spear guns but they weren't coming up with anything.
