Default A good gunsmith?

I need to have some work done on my rifle before this years deer and elk season. Need to have a recoil pad put on and buy and new scope and mounts. I heard Allison and Carey out on Stark is pretty good. Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated?

Ive heard that Allison & Carey are really good. I also know that Big Iron Gunworks in Canby is very good and has good prices & turnaround time. Also Als gunshop in Verboort is doing work again and they are good too. THose are the only Two Ive dealt with and would suggest to people

Thumbs up Re: A good gunsmith?

I have been doing business with Jeff & Brian from Allison & Carey for many years with no bad experiences. They're not cheap and usually have some backlog but you can expect quality work. If they can't perform the work requested or don't recommend it, they will tell you so straight.

Two thumbs up

Kurt at H&K Gun Shop in Forest Grove does top of the line work.

I used to recommend Alison & Carey, but a buddy that I sent there was not treated very well - which shocked me. I have done business for years with Stan at Al's gun shop and was dismayed when he sold the business. I ran into him at the sportsmen show this year and had a nice chat. He is still doing some of the work, so Al's Gun Shop in Verbort is my go to.

Since I dissed A&C again Ted Culin approved this message

Never used A&C but my buddy had 2 shotguns fixed there. They made a 30 year old 1100 look new and found parts for a really old pump 12ga. a sears ted williams special with adjustable choke. His dad has advised me to never take a gun anywhere else but there.

A &C for me. 30+ years of doing business with them and have never had a complaint on their work. For handguns I'd recommend Travis at NW Armory in Milwaukie.
