Default 234B Tumalo Hunt?

I picked this hunt because it doesn't interfere with my school schedule and it can be drawn with 2 points. How hard is this hunt? are there many elk on the BLM or are they all on the private land? Any info about the hunt would be appreciated as May 15 is fast approaching.

Feel free to PM me if you want. Any info will stay between my father and myself.

sorry I don't know the area but the area biologists are more than happy to tell what they know. you can find their #'s on the ODFW web. call asap because sometimes they don't get the messages for days (fieldwork and whatnot)

I put my wife in for this hunt as we are moving to Tumalo at the end of the month and it works out with her schedule (school teacher). I have seen elk from the road in this area once but figure I will have plenty of time to figure it out before the December season (not taking her during my August bow season).

The other plus is cow only, she will not be killing a bigger bull than mep .

Is the deer hunting any good in that part of the Metolius unit?

Any body?

That Tumalo area is about 50% public land, and I was wondering if anyone has hunted it for deer?

Looks like you got about a 54% chance with two points, we have hunted Paulina for deer which is further to the east and done pretty good but have never seen any elk, although there are signs everywhere that say do not mistake elk for deer!!! The area between sisters and tumalo should hold elk i have just never been in there. i have seen a bunch of elk hanging out near the highway by black butte though.

I was just trying to envision the dufas that would mistake an elk for a deer! Probably the same kind of guy that mistakes a cow (i.e., cattle) for an elk, I guess!

So where ya' been hunting in Paulina? We've been in much of the western portion of the unit, but haven't had any success.
