My best friend came down from the Seattle area for the opener. Had a blast, caught a ton of fish. Had a close call in Whitehorse ( put a new dent in my chine). Had a guy pass 4 open camp sights up above to pull into mine?? Same guy had to ride his raft upside-down down whitehorse with his girlfriend. Lost his oars and a couple guys donated their spares to him. Woke up Saturday morning in lower whitehorse to 6 guys in front of my camp with pencil lead and flatfish. They walked up from North Junction. Unreal. I was ****** but as usual it's a bunch of gearheads with bad maners wearing levi's to fish in. I've gotten used to it Crazy times.
Although the river level looks low I will tell you can opener and oh **** are underwater. If you are going over the hogs back be careful, the river is pushing right...hard.. I had to bow down and run the front of my boat up and into that giant visible rock. Good news is I run a koffler and the sides are real high. Ended up staying dry and floating high. Scarey stuff. I've run that route several times and never been pushed right. Be careful in whitehorse.
Fishing was outstading. There was zero dry fly fishing going on. Saw two other boats that were fishing and a large group of rafters.
Awesome trip. Here's a few pictures. The salmon smolt grabbed the dropper and unbuttoned a nice redside. Took his picture as a reward.
