Default Trout opener

ok, now that the Columbia is done and the Willamette sucks, let's hear some on the trout opener. Anyone get out in that lovely weather this weekend? How about the Cacade Lakes, any reports? Thanks!

Mojo,
In a word COLD.SLOW comes to mind too.I spent this morning at Crane Prarie watching dudes try to back down the ramp.Man that is too funny when your are laughing AT them instead of WITH them(say Jackknife with me 3 times real fast)! Most folks ended up at either Lava(big)or South Twin catching stockers!HA.Coulda gone to Hagg for that experience.Seriously,Crane Wickiup,Paulina and East were slower than last years springer run.Keep an eye on the barometer as a week or so with nice weather will go a long way to wake these fish up.It will also give the crowd time to disperse. At that point I would hit Wickiup with Rapalas. If a limit of stockers is on the menu then Lava is a good producer.Crane will pick up later, usually around 4th of July oy later.Good Luck.Mark

I'll second tadpolly. CP was windy and cold. Three guys, five fish for all day Sat. and 7-12 on Sun. The fish we caught were nice, but you had to wonder whether or not it was worth it...... On the other hand, it sounds like it was cruddy everywhere this weekend so I guess I might as well be there!

I missed the opener at Wickiup this year. On Friday, I had to go and support a real sport and team the Portland Winter Hawks hockey as they advanced to the finals

That was the first trout opener I have missed at Wickiup in 6 years. Sunday I went to Hagg and fought the white caps, rain and a few idiots at the ramp. But the fishing was hot for the little 10" planters. I caught 20 in 2 hours trolling a Dick Night's spoon and only 20 boats on the lake.

Oh yeah, well me and my dad went to our secret hotspot and had about 25 bites, landed 17 fish released 7 smaller ones and kept 5 each. By the way the smallest was around 15" and the biggest about a 3 pound, 20 incher...

Tried Timothy lake for an hour on Friday but we left when we discovered LARGE cougar tracks on the shore right where we were fishing
