Default Multiple Season Elk Permit

Dear Successful Applicant:.....Congradulations ,you have been selected....

I just recieved this in the mail today .Every year I have to make a decision of wether to hunt with my rifle or my smoke pole, well this year I get to do both:grin: .I never have archery hunted, but with 4 months to practice I may give it a try.Might have to set a hay bale down under my apple tree and get ranged in since my resident herd is open for early archery. With three seasons available to hunt this year I'm thinking my chances may be pretty good.I still haven't applied for any special hunt permits yet so I guess I'll just have to wait and see how that goes, but I may just have to put all three season choices down for the Margret Bull tag I've been waiting for.

Anyhow just thought I'ld share one of the high points of my day with you all
Anybody else get drawn? and for you guys that got drawn for it last year, was it worth the extra $ in your opinion?

My letter says I was drawn for multiseason deer in the first paragraph, then refers to my tag as multi-elk through the rest of the letter. I applied for both, so I'm going to have to check online to see what I really was drawn for. Probably deer.

I drew both last year, deer on the second drawing for leftover tags and 3rd drawing for elk. Didn't buy the elk tag, and the follow up letter stated that WDFW actually did a 4th drawing.

regards, aw

Tule I wouldn't write off getting a successful draw letter in the mail as tags go unpurchased.

Looks like the initial draw recipients have until the end of May to purchase, then another drawing. And another, and another.

I received the elk letter in mid August.

regards, aw

What sucks about that is when you draw, you can put in for special permits anywhere in the state. And i hunt west side, so drawing the any tag allows me to put in for east side big bull tags with my 9 elk points...

Must be nice to live in a state where your elk tag is good for more than one hunt type. The ODFW can't stand the thought of losing revenue by allowing fewer but longer hunts.

You're welcome to hunt here as a non-resident.

You had me concerned for a bit until I figured out that you were in Wash. I thought I had missed something here in Oregon. I do miss the old days, before they limited the tags to one season. I started hunting in August and quit in Jan. with bow elk. My wife thought I just couldn't hit anything until then. It was great just to be out there. I wish we had the chance to draw a tag like that other than the lottery tags.

I do ; my Oregon plates don't make me feel very welcome in Pullman though; until I wear my Cougar jacket.
