Found my Plunking Rod, Now what..............
Just found and bought my Springer Plunking Rod last night at the Sportsman show. I got the "Grigg Columbia Premier" 13' 15-30 lb for $50. Now what do I need to rig this bad boy up with? Looking for size and colors of Hoochies, and what ever else works good for Springers. I'm totally new to Plunking and I plan on hitting various areas of the Columbia and Willamette.
Thanks
CM

Wow a nice rod, are these grigg made rods lightweight?
I am looking into getting a longer 10.5 or more foot rod in that test line rating for fall chinook bobber fishing... If grigg makes em light in weight then I may consider..

Re: Found my Plunking Rod, Now what..............
Been years since I plunked also. Might leave the boat at home and do some plunking this weekend. Can anybody tell me the desired dropper weight length would be plunking spin-n-glo's in the CR. I can't remember for sure. Thanks

We use about a 8-12'' dropper out on Sauvie's Island beaches. In the Willamette 2-3'
Hope that helps. Let us know if you do go.

Re: Found my Plunking Rod, Now what..............
1..you need a reel.. with 25# or larger line as abrasion resistant as possible especially if you fish in the Gorge
2.. spin glo's size 00 in whatever colors you prefer hard to go wrong with chrome..
3. leader and dropper material 5-10# lighter than your main line
4 heavy barrel swivels
5 beads to go between your spin glo and hook
6 owner or gami hooks 3/0 is plenty big
7 leads ranging from 3-10 oz pyramids for sand bottom bank sinkers for rock
8.. some kind of rod holder that can be driven into sand or wedged into rocks
never used hoochies but no reason they would'nt be effective especially in dirty water...
anyway thats a list of what you'll need..
if you feel lazy you may also want a bell

Re: Found my Plunking Rod, Now what..............
Thanks a bunch rob allen That's the info I was looking for. My brother is going to build me a nice rod holder at his work. Sounds like I need to start looking at Hoochies, Spin-Glos, and lead. What size of Hoochies? 3 1/2" or 4 1/2"
Thanks

Hey Ugly Green? Do you still have those pics of your Hoochie set up?
Husker
Thanks for the email. I do have a reel for it. It's a 321 GTI.
Akuracy503
I don't think you would want one of these for a Bobber Rod. They are very big and heavy. 9' 15-50 Berkley IM7 works great for Fall Bobber fishing.
Thanks
