Wow! A 19+ pound Summer run? This could be a fun summer for Steelies on the coast.

The lucky angler was Steve Carr, stop in at the TCCA Feed Store here in Tillamook and he will probably tell you all about it. The picture is with Ron at Nestucca Valley Sporting Goods in Hebo.

The steelie was taken earlier in the week by another local man and his son, that picture is at the shop as well.

Remember that old Rod Stewart song "Every Picture Tells a Story"
I used to work with this guy who would come into work with these outrageous fish stories about all the big ones he caught over the weekend in the most unlikely places. One story he told was about catching a huge sturgeon and a 60lb. salmon on the same day in the Columbia Slough in the middle of summer! Well of course he never, ever offered any type of photographical proof of the piscatorial conquests. Hmmmmm........

Hey BP,

This was the first confirmed springer we know of on the Nestucca. Not to discredit yours as being the first, it's just that you must have ate the evidence because there's no proof!

I (Marie) personally talked with Steve Carr this morning and he told me the real scoop.

He caught it on the Nestucca(a secret spot) a BUCK (not a hen) 25 pounder(not 22#)
using eggs and sand shrimp.

He was fishing early in the morning by himself, no other eyes saw it when he landed it.

So I will get the picture, scan it and put it on my web site as soon as I can.

A 25 pound Spring Chinook BUCK on the Nestucca at the end of April.

With this rain more will be coming in!

Thanks,
Marie

Well, sure glad you (NOT ME) cleared up all the confusion Marie, Guess next time I'll tell Ron to tell me the "official" weight (NOT 22 LBS). And, I'll be sure to look at the picture more closely to determine if it's a buck (NOT A HEN)!

Heck, better yet just go to Maries site to get the report. SORRY ABOUT THE MISINFORMATION!
