Default Columbia last day report

I fished the deadline at the dam till almost noon. There were only about 40 boats above Tanner creek. That may sound like a lot, but no nearly as bad as it has been. Not windy this morning and little to no rain. Kind of pleasant out there.

The dam was dumping water and it was hard to keep it down with 12 ounces. I saw maybe 12 fish caught before noon. I had one hit my eggs but I missed it, We got one more in the boat that was clipped.

The guides were telling us the nets were in last night from the dam to beacon rock. That was a nice little present for the sportfishermans last day.

Anyway, it was crowded but not so bad it wasnt unfishable. We got our lines tangled with only one boat, one time, and that was because they were above us about 100 feet and long lining under our boat with a couple ounces of lead. Doughballs got all 3 of us in one swoop. We just cut there lines and went back to fishing. They had to hate that.

Fished Frenchman's bar and no fish. Wind all day and hard to get the speed right upwind and down wind. Did not see a fish caught. The fish win the final round! What a great season on the Columbia this year! Hope we can do it again! I enjoyed so many new places from the bay to Bonneville to say nothing of the people I met along the way!

I think after the spring Columbia season I need a "SMOKE" ...Isn't that what you do after a great time?

Bill

fished the 205 bridge with one native today.
It was pretty slow but the fishfinder was working overtime tracking schools of fish? Shad maybe? If they were salmon then they were on the move with a closed mouth. The fishing has been phenomenal this year and I've had a blast chasing these things around.

I met Bill a couple weeks ago and fished for a few hours one afternoon as he landed a nice native. Hey Bill, light up one of those cigars for me too.

Cancelled my trip due to weather today. But, went down to watch the bankies at Prescott beach near the end of the evening tide. Saw 2 fish landed in about 15 minutes and saw another guy cleaning a fish on the beach. There must be a few pods still straggling through down here.
