I'm not sure there's a conflict in the commercial fish / sportfish sales at Fred's ... None of the chinook they sell is from the Northwest ... it's all commercial net pen reared.

On another funny Fred note, I was talking with a checker about what it was like working there since the chain was sold to a national corporation. The checker was a little peeved since he will need to shave his beard to comply with orders from his new corporate boss, who he refers to as "Freddy Kroger".

Default sportfishing gear sales

i was in fred meyer the other day looking at fishing tackle and then walked down to the meat section and finaly the fish sales and seen some fresh salmon, i got to thinking of what i just had looked at, sportfishing gear at one end of the store and commercial caught salmon at the other, is somthing wrong here to have these in the same store ? i quit buying anything from them. i personaly also dont buy anything from a store that caters to both commercial and sportsfisherman. i would rather support a sportfishing tackle shop of which we have very few anymore up here in seattle.

So the Copper river salmon they sell every summer is from what pen and farm. Sorry they do sell commercial/net caught fish. This is just something that we have to deal with they are only trying to cater to the consumer and get the best price. It is not thier fault so don't boycott them. Its the fault of our government so in a small part it is all of our faults. It ticks me off too. Just have to vote the best way I can and do my part on the river to conserve to resource that I love so much.
