If you don't want to be selfish, where would she like to go?

Re: vacation idea's ?
I would head to the East Cape of Baja Mexico. Its full of blue skys, beaches, margaritas, and fish! Its the ultimate, if you want to play the "romantic" and still be able to wet a line. There are several resorts that appear to be good choices for anyone, even if you don't fish. Good luck in your search.

Maybe a cruise to Alaska, with a day or two of fishing.
Myself, I'd rather head to the Cancun area. There a lots of choice resorts depending on your needs. Some are all inclusive, some have maids and cooks. I can find plenty of choices there, just LMK.

Re: vacation idea's ?
Take the weather in regards. Nothing ruins a vacation like the weather. Too hot, too cold. August in Mexico.............hot. August on a cruise to Alaska......... Maybe a drive up into British Columbia and happen to hit a couple rivers for steelhead while you are there. Just make sure she enjoys the trip as much as you do and you will have no problems next year. You might get her a rod just in case she wants to catch a few trout or something. Good luck and have fun.

That is a great time of the year to hit Vancouver Island in B.C. Lots of stuff to see and you could book a salmon trip on the inside or the outside.

Re: vacation idea's ?
Hot as crap in Baja in August - fishing is lightsout however.
Vancouver Island is an excellent choice. Rent a convertible and tour the island. Fishing is good
Southern Oregon/Northern California coast is pretty stunning and you have the Redwoods as well. Plus fishing out of Brookings. Better case for romantic convertible rental as temps will be very nice.
Jasper and Banff National Parks are always very beautiful in the summer and temps will be perfect. Likely good fishing to be found
Yellowstone in September is spectacular and no crowds. Worldclass fishing in Madison, Yellowstone rivers as well as in the park. Again convertible would be good here. Can help with guides and places to stay around park. Prettiest part of the world in my opinion. Horseback trip to alpine lake could be romantic and fishy - great fishing in september.
I can suggest some romantic city type vacations if interested - sounds like you are leaning more toward scenery and outdoors.

Google shermanstravel and take a look at the travel deals. Week long Alaska cruises for around $700. Some deals even better than that.
Another great source of the best deals in travel is kayak. Google it.

Re: vacation idea's ?
We visited Glacier National Park last year (end of August/early Sept). The crowds had just died down as the kids went back to school. We fished in 3 of the lakes there too. Beautiful country if you haven't seen it. My favorite vacation was Maine, New Hampshire & Vermont in late September. The fall colors were magnificent!! Of course, the lobster wasn't hard to take either. We visited an old county fair in Vermont that would remind you of your youth.
