Help on the Santiam

This is only my second year fishing for steelhead and I was wondering if some of you good people out there could help me out? I have fished a few of the rivers but not the Santiam or its north fork. I do not have a boat so I am limited to the bank. I would appreciate any help and advice you may feel is appropriate because I want to give this river a try.My email is available for any private messages.Thanks all for this great forum,

Do a search for north Santiam. There have been several threads about bank access areas in the last few months.

An extremely helpful resource for the Santiam system are the posts made by Bill Sanderson. You can find his latest one HERE . Also, if you email him, he'll email you directly his reports as they come out. He's also pretty good about answering any questions you may have.

SilverH- You might give Billsan an e-mail. He posts a report on the N.Santiam on here almost weekly. You could try fishing by the boat ramp right by the bridge between Lyons and Mehama, or at John Neal park in the town of Lyons. Also Santiam state park and Fishermans Bend park on up hwy 22 from there. Depends all on the river level. It changes often due to water coming from the dams near Detroit. Good luck! Fishft.

Silverhead-I grew up on the Santiam right across the river from the best hole on the main stem for bank fishers. Also know of a few more good bank spots. Email me and I'll try to help you out.
