Default Deschutes

I am leaving for the big D! So I hope to hear about all the big trout caught over the weekend on the upper stretch! Good Luck to all, and I hope everyone has a safe trip!

Maupin and downriver was very windy on Sat. Not much action, lots of tiny steel nates, and now some hatchery nookie smolts too. I missed my biggest redside ever, he hit my small spinner, jumped once, end of show.
Too windy for casting a fly with my daughter nearby.

I caught at least 50 fincliped smolts in 2 days so did my partner. They are on their way down.

Thanks for the report. I fished the upper river from the bank for a bit over the weekend. I couldn't keep the smolts away and had a hard time hooking the big boys. I shook hands with a few nice fish but twas not what I had hoped for. It was bright and sunny and I expericed zero surface action (except smolts).
