Default Willy report 4/26(pics)

It was a great 1/2 day of fishing on the Willy. Got on the water at 12:30pm water temp was 52 degrees and a nice clear green color.

I caught 28 fish 3 were of them were 3 pounds or over with the biggest weighing 3.6 pounds. All but one fish was caught on plastics. Most fish were running a 2 pound average with only a couple of dinks thrown in.

All fish released to fight another day.

Here is one of the small fish I caught. I took a pic because on its head it had a black pigment. I had never seen a smally marked like that.

Tight lines
Clayton

Nice bunch of fish! I'm definitely looking forward to the 28th when we can finally use "bait" in my stretch of the Willamette. I've got a lot to learn about fishing soft plastics, let alone soft plastics in a fairly fast running river.

Edit: Wow, I didn't realize where exactly you were until someone else pointed out the ferry. Where you really catching fish in that area or where you just back at the ramp? If so I might just have to go down there next time I'm visiting my in-laws in West Salem.

DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!

You're going to need a better camera once you make it to the pro's! Nice report and great picks too!

I'm with you on the plastics, but have you noticed in cleaner or dirty water, it's the darkest colors getting the largest fish?

Fishing HARD this week - my (new to fishing) lady is casting WAYYYyyyy better then she was, so I no longer have to climb trees and actually had time to check water temps and look ... I have a locator.

Was trying smaller lakes including the "over-run with stunted crappie" Freeway Lakes and others. While there seems to be a resident LM population at nearly every trout planting area checked so far, it's been the bigger waters producing decent fish. Not sure if this is a fishing pressure issue, food issue, or the dreaded X-factor as yet, will keep you in the loop. In the mean time - repeat after me... cast twitch twitch... pause... SET THE HOOK!

A couple of years ago a guy pulled a 10# LM out of the second Freeway Lake. Got his picture in the paper. So they can grow big there. One problem there in the spring is that it takes forever for the water to clear up a bit.

Nice work Clayton!!! Wish I had as much time to fish......tip: when a purty little philly buys you a drink and sits down and says "my name is".....RUN!

Or the next thing you know your wallet is empty, time commited for you, and all you have to show for it is the most wonderful kids and understanding wife.....oh, never mind...I guess I have it pretty good.

Yes, Bucketmouth.....it MUST be the boat. Crestliners are fine boats.
Somehow I don't think it's the boat. But I'll take credit for introducing him to her.
