Default Ling Cod and rockbass?

Hey All,
thinking of heading to the coast to fish for some sea perch. I don't know when they are at peak but still wanting to go. I also read much about fishing for Ling Cod and rockbass. Using jigs with grubs. My question is how big of a jig head to use and what size grubs. I recently bought some 1/8 jig head with some 3" grubs. Will this work? Any advice thanks.

We did real well at longbeach last weekend. Used clamnecks for bait. hour before and after tide change. Google surf perch fishing and there is some tips and pointers on several sites. Longbeach has a perch derby next month.

Sorry... I will be either in tillamook or seaside. Looking for a jetty to fish. I plan on surf fishing for perch if that gets slow may go to the jetty and look for some other fish. I read about some people fishing the jetty, throwing out for ling cod and missing them and getting some rock bass closer. Just thought i would give it a shot...

There was a thread a short time ago about jetty fishing. You might do a search and get some info that way. Good luck!

the lings are in close to the rocks...... down in them. the bass will sometimes stage up out a little bit futher but for the most part if you arent feeling rocks on a fairly regular basis you need to come closer in or go deeper. for bass a three inch is pretty good for a common size grub. but if you want the bigger bass use a bigger one with the chances of hooking a ling. all the lingcod i have caught on the smaller grubs have been sublegal. i am starting to really like the prepackaged swimbaits! they kill!!!!!! oh one thing to remember is that the bass bite at NIGHT!!!

Throw a regular ol Rappala crankbait at the bass during high tide and get ready for some topwater action...
