I recently baught a cap for my truck. originally I was looking at a mid-rise like the Leer 180 thinking that the extra cargo space would be useful. then i got out a measuring tape and started measuring things i might like to throw in the back of the truck. My conclusion was that the mid-rise didnt look as nice as the cab high models and still really didnt allow me to load substantially larger items in the truck. For example, with the cab high I got I can load a sofa in the truck but not a washer or dryer. With the 180, I still would be a an inch or two shy of being able to load the washer or dryer upright. The mid-rise really didnt increase practical cargo space, IMHO. As for dealers, i looked at several. All american was one recommended to me, but upon searching the subject found many, many complaints about their buisness practices, ill leave it at that. In the end I went to Leer truck accessories in Clackamas. their prices were the same as everyone elses, nothing real special. However, they have been helpful with all my questions and got the cap to the showroom and installed exactly as they promised. I would recommend them. Ive had no problems with mine as of yet, but it hasnt been on the truck long either. the back door is a little off to one side, but I have an appointment with Leer next week to have that adjusted. All in all its great, and greatly increases my ability to use the truck for family oriented activities, and I think will be great for hunting in the rain, as i can now keep my packs, and archery equipment dry and free from road dirt and dust, PLUS, now that i cant fit a huge bull elk in the back I am practically GUARANTEED to get one this year!!!!!
Seriously though, if you put a cap on your truck and you ever do any sort of hauling, even just helping a buddy move, an occasional trip to the dump, I can see a utility trailer in your future regardless of wether you get a hi or mid-rise cap or not. Just my
