I was trying to find something to do with my spurs and wasn't sure how to use them, so I started thumbing through the NWTF Turkey Call Magazine and saw an article on how to make wing bone yelpers, and one of the yelpers had spurs mounted on it. I haven't mounted the spurs yet because I have only done my preliminary yelpers and saved the best for last.
This turned into one heck of a project. It took more time than I realized, but when I am enjoying myself time flies by. Sliverpicker (Ron) gave me some very helpful advice on what to use. I didn't get all of the bones fit the same way, but they all seem to work just fine. If any of you have additional ideas of how to fix these things up, I am all ears. My better half is going to draw turkeys, feathers, and turkey tracks on the bare ones.
The three bare ones are going to get leather wraps like the others, some original hand drawn art work, and spurs put on, and the ones that have small turkeys and a feather are actually paper cut outs that I glued on then sprayed over. They seemed to turn out decent. I have already given one to a close friend of mine, and he seemed to enjoy making music on it.
If you have turkey wing bones that you don't want, I'll gladly take them off of your hands.
Here is a good link on how to make these:
