Default Lake Powell Stripers(pic's added)

Was on vacation in Utah, & got tired of cold weather up high...so the wife & I decided to camp down lower at Lake Powell, The Colorado was running muddy, so we found a cove with less color, Farley cove I think, couldn't get the Crappie to bite, but Striped Bass were bitting like crazy right from our camp, mostly 24" & bigger using mostly Crappie tube Jigs with a little piece of worm, Catfish were also biting on the bottom, mostly small tho. up to 16", we must of caught 30+ Stripers in just a couple hours in the evening, & a couple hours the next morning, I wished we would have stayed another day now...cause fishing was slooow everywhere else, will try to post pic's when I get home. Ok I need a little work on adding pic's, but here they are.

We did the same thing 3 years ago. Camped for a week. Couldn't catch stripers in the beginning then ran into some folks that invited us to fish with them at night. We were having so much fun we hated to quit. Wished we had quit earlier when we were still cleaning them at 2:00 am though.

Well I'm jealous! That's still a species on my list of to catch still, and hearing about days like you're definitely makes me anxious for when I get the opportunity.

We did the house boat thing at Lake Powell some years ago. It was one of the best family vacations we ever have done. If you have kids that like water and you like seclusion, its just the ticket. The strippers we caught were maybe 4-7 lbs and alot of fun. There was no limit on them, but we only kept and ate a couple. We stayed a week. It was pretty cool, the company that owned the house boats would come by every morning with a newspaper to read with your coffie and a few bags of ice. My kids still think that was the best trip ever.

Now now! I thought this was a family site?!

Edit: Sorry I couldn't help myself. On another forum I frequent it gets discussed frequently and misspelled just as frequently.

You left yourself wide open for that one.
We tent camped there and alternated one day fishing with our boat, one day sight seeing. There is some beautiful country there. Needles National Park, Four Corners, Newspaper Rock, Arches National Park, and more. Definitely a must see.
