Cabo...it's a good place!
The warm weather just puts you in a good mood...or is it the cold beer and tan ladies in sun dresses...either way it's all good!
We fished 3 days and took a pounding on day 1 up at Golden Gate with north winds ripping down the coast line...the wind waves were tossing our 32' Blackfin around and the fun was quickly leaving this trip. Hoping to find some tuna or dorado, we trolled and trolled and then trolled some more...no luck. However, there were about a dozen Stripe Marlin that either came into the spread or we tossed live bait to...we only hooked one but of course that came as the mate backlashed the real...POP! Fish off!
We salvage the day with 3 Mako hook-ups and one landed...the teath on these fish are crazy!
Day 2 was a run to Gordo Bank to avoid the wind and try and find some tuna...soaking sardines on the banks is often a good bet for schoolie YFT's but not this day...then the Stripe Marlin started going off and we had 3 in the spread...both riggers popped and a corner rod...3 fish jumping near the boat at one time...we were not sure how many were hooked! Ended up with two on and landed one...what a show they put on! Our buddy Jack landed his first Marlin and it was a dandy...180lbs of Stripe Marlin is quite a fish...using Penn 16's made for a good battle. Sierra were next on the list so we ran in close to shore and trolled plugs and bars for a couple of hours and hooked up 10 and landed 7 nice Spanish Maks and one Jack...fun stuff on Trinidads & light Calstars.
Day 3 was jigging for yellow tail in the morning early...Seely and I did not make it up for this after a strong effort on Saturday night in town...the boys hooked two and landed one in about an hour. That afternoon we went back out on Sea Fox's buddy's 54' Bertram for a sunset cruise and cocktail Sierra fishing...what a boat! Great evening on the water and we managed a couple more Sierra...and a magical sunset with good friends!
Pictures coming...

You call that fun? I poured hali weights Saturday. Waxed my truck Sunday. And cleaned my garage Monday. The best you can do is cold beer, warm weather, tan ladies, marlin... OK maybe you got me beat. Can't wait to see the pics.

Cabo is good stuff.
You always seem to catch a mako down there. Ive never seen a shark come out of mexican waters.
Those bertrams are nice and solid boats. Ive spent a good amt of time on the Notorious; a 50 footer. Those Blackfins are killer boats!

No shortage of sharks this trip...fun but I wanted no part of releasing these fish...the mate seemed comfortable handling the fish.
The "Tail Chaser" is a fine boat...not super fast but we made 18kts in weather most guys (up here) would not fish in...stayed dry as well...good boat and the captain is outstanding!

Lucky Dog
Looking forward to the pics.
It seems like yesterday, sitting on the patio, enjoying the 80 degree weather in the middle of winter. It makes me thirsty for margaritas.

Amigo, I'm stuck in this crap now as well!
But I do have fresh Yellow Tail in the fridge for sashimi tonight...so that does not suck too bad.
