Default Contentious spirit

I would appreciate your Christian prayers concerning my attitude here on this ifish board (the general board, not Anglers chapel). I have found a smorgasbord of articles to sharpen my thinking upon (green issues, sealions, etc) and have little fear in confronting them. I will not change my thinking towards these issues, but my approach is ship-wrecked. It is challenging to stay balanced between godliness and self-righteousness. A spirit of contention has arisen from me in this wonderful e-world. I have experienced new challenges and come away with a distinct feeling of needing humility and not possessing enough. Maybe the board is working for me! I am seeing my need and am asking for prayers concerning this. Would you pray for me. Thanks. Doug

I share the same affliction at times, brother. Sometimes this is a good thing and other times not.

Like they say: "a closed mouth gathers no feet"! But then again it can make for a dull website if nobody offers any opinions. I think we should pray for each other, that our responses would always be respectful to others... and foremost be pleasing to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Only God knows what we should do, and I really believe in what I call "reply regret". When I feel reply regret... even a little bit, I think that's my Heavenly Father tapping me on the shoulder.

I have none, at the moment, and I'm praying that I can get through each day without that reply regret.
I will pray for your lack of reply regret, too!

Jen

I will pray that God continues to work in your life to change you to the man he desires. Your sensitivity to this issue, and not a blind naivity, shows He is working in your life.

Prayers for you. I also get to feeling stalled, or out-of-balance sometimes. I feel like my heart's on a teeter-totter, and the side with God should always be heavier. Sometimes constant exposure to the "world" without corresponding worship and Christian interaction tips that balance, and I feel a bit of negativity and depression. I know what picks me back up, or rather, WHO! I'm glad you posted. What you wrote brought some blessing to me today.

Excellent point Jennie and I believe it too. As Christians, the conviction we feel through the Holy Spirit when we sin is sure enough an ugly, depressed feeling. Life requires decisions and those decisions result in consequences. It's God's way of making us the type of people He wants us to be...and often it's the only way of getting His point across through our natural, stubborn sin condition. If we put our hands on that hot burner enough times and get burned, we will be more careful the next time. This is true Fatherly love and guidance.

I've got some scars on my hands during this walk with Him and will undoubtedly get some more. Thank you Lord!

I do think we all are in the same boat, as was said, we should use respect for others and that what we say is pleasing to God.
It is very hard at times to reply to a post with out someone taking it the wrong way or out of context and getting offended. I have been told to put mind in gear before opening mouth, but here on Ifish it should be put mind in gear before putting fingers to keyboard. Will pray for you D Tangle and all the rest of us also
that how we respond to a post or what we post will not drag Christ's Name through the MUD.

Blessings to all

I am finding that when I log on and come here first (Angler's Chapel), I post more acceptably elsewhere. Seeing the sacrifice of our soldiers and praying for people's needs gets me ready to face the crud of some of the posters on the General board. I have to make it a habit now.
I have had to put one person on 'ignore' because I can't handle his 'green' posting. When God strengthens me, perhaps then I can take him off 'ignore'. Could take months or years. "Lead me not into temptation".

I appreciate your prayers.

Brother Doug,

I am continuing to pray for you. I pray that you will seek God's will in your life. I pray that you will find the peace necessary to always post in a way that will only bring honor and glory to our Lord.

I need your prayers for the same things.

I do pick my battles. My father taught me to never argue politics or religion. Now that he is gone I feel safe in adding global warning to that list.

Peace Brother and I pray for you. Please pray for me.

Did you say 'Global Warming"!!! Grrrrr. I mean, umm, OK, let's talk.

See, I'm getting better, right?

Humor aside, thanks for your prayers. I need to pick my battles more carefully and check my spirit. Blessings to you, brother.

Oh my.....I'm sorry, I've no idea as to what you mean

OK....a wee bit of a fib

With a moniker like mine, I believe my "intent" is rather obvious. I confess, it was fun trying to rattle the tree, but it is fast losing its appeal, as I grow from feeding on milk, to more solid food, ala Hebrews......

Remember too my friend, God uses each and everyone of us, according to His plan, so don't go selling yourself short amigo. Just by testifying your heartfelt turmoil, could lend itself to great implications in anther's mans (woman's) plight.....we'll just never know
