Default Yakima river cats heating up...(no pic)

No pics but me and a friend picked up 3 channels out of the yakima tonight. It'll only get better from here.

Raptor,
One week too late for me, I am bummed that we did not get into them then, but i will be making a trip in the next two weeks or so. Also, you did not tell the story of your "boat" incident? Cant wait for the trout next weekend, as you probably already know. Late

ah, yes....I had almost forgot about it but since you brought it up my blood is now boiling again.

So...i'm sittin on my arse having a brewskie letting my earthworm soak in the yakima river and my rod complety doubles down. I set the hook and my real starts screaming. About a 50 yard run later my line is 3/4 of the way across the Yakima.

I hear a cresliner blowing up river and think....Umm... this could be bad.... i try to waive him around or to stop or do something, but he just looks at me while i frantically waive my one free arm and buries the throddle even more. I put my rod tip in the water in hope i can get my line low enough to get under his motor....

No such luck. My braided line got ripped off my Pflueger so fast i couldnt clamp down to break off in time and he took my entire line up river with him.

I'm pretty sure it was a 15lb class carp, but you never know......Coulda been a big o'l cat or maybe a world record bass. or maybe a world record Salmon......I'll never know!

So if you were the guy not paying attention at 500PM in a crestliner blowing up the yakima last night.....I want my braided line back. :lurk:

Hunter9

there is plenty of Catfish inhabbited water you can fish from the bank including the Snake and yakima rivers.

Can't tell you my honey holes, but i can tell you that the cats bite at night just fine around the Tri Cities if you can find the right spot.

Try somewhere near the mouth of the yakima river. You'll end up catching other stuff too.
