Default Devils Lake

Anyone have any reports or news on devils lake in lincoln city. Im heading there next week with a few friends, and we are staying in a house on the lake (towards the north end, kinda near holmes road park). We will probably be mostly fishing from the backyard. I did read that the lake was stocked last week or so. Are most of the stockers concentrated towards the state park side of the lake, or are they pretty dispersed?? Anyone every hook any of those grass carp on accident?? i hear they get pretty big.

Make sure you use enough leader to get the powerbait out of the weeds.
do not forget about the cats also. For a while the trout stay close to where they are stocked.

I lived down there and have fished it many years as far as the stocking goes depends if they stocked at holmes road or at regatta ground I dont think they stock much at brown bear anymore if its at holmes road you should do good fish seem to stay around a few weeks in that part of the lake after stocking as far as the carp never seen one hooked had them come right up to the boat and look at me I guess you could hook one on some bread or something like that as bait but I do believe they are protected as of now so better not to try it if you want to see and feed some big carp go to the marina and check them out they hang out right up against the sea wall there very impressive its like a fish feeding zoo, some guys have good luck trolling dry flys super slow but most people use powerbait off the bottom good luck post up how it goes I will be down there first week of may to fish.

Yes, we have snagged 2 grass carp while trolling. They are huge and they are beautiful- it's a shame to even call them a carp!

I fished it sat, & sun . A friend and I caught 10 both days. The weather was not nice on sat. Was ok on sun. the wind does came in in the after noon. We were trolling the most of the time. wedding ring tiped with worm was the best for use. when trolling the best for use is about foot off the bottom. We did fish power bait off the bottom at Regatta off dock. They were the best in front of Regatta park but did did get some in the north end . they were jumping early morning when the water was calm.
I hope that helps.

Thanks for the latest report. I am heading down there this Mother Day's weekend and camp at KOA and was hoping to get the kids into some actions.

I was their 3 weeks ago and could not keep my line in the water. I was trolling Panther Martins and every time we put our lines in the water we had another one on. They were about 12-15 long. Good Luck
