Default Boat Pricing...How To/How Come

Ok, I give. How do you check the "blue Book" value on a boat? It seems there is no set method, rhyme or reason as to how dealers establish pricing. Then comes the banks, or is it "Bankies" you gota love em! 80%of this under 10k for 60mo or was it 80% of 60mo over that.

MAN AM I CONFUSED!!! I just want a good boat and not get ripped!

Any boat dealers trolling?

JJig,
A couple things I do when I want to torture myself wishing on a new boat is check out The Boat Trader at: www.boattraderonline.com or Browns Landing at: www.brownslanding.com This will provide you with some nice boats to look at and some idea of prices. Good Luck.

If you belong to a credit union or a even a bank will help you. Walk in and tell them you are looking for a boat to buy and want to know what the blue book value is. You will have to know some details about the boat and the accesories that come with it. It all ads up in the end. This also includes the trailer. They will be happy to look up a price for you. That's how I bought my new boat. When I found out how much boats were used to new I just went and bought a new boat. Easier to finance a package deal on a new boat than a used boat. They are willing to finance more of the boat, because they are holding the title.

Than when you are ready to buy you can have an idea of how much money you can spend. Also a good rule of thumb in a large aluminum boats is: $1000.00 a foot method. For every foot of boat you can expect to pay at least $1000.00. So if your boat is a 16' expect to pay $16,000.00 for it.

Good luck hunting for boats.

jiggin,
I just boat a used 19ft Alumaweld Super Vee from a private party. It pays to be patient and watch the papers. Talk with all the dealers and put your name on their used boat list. The only problem is they sell good used boats as quick as they get them in. Just keep going back it will save you money.I couldn't find any blue book value on my boat either so my credit union just called Stevens Marine with a detailed description of my boat and they gave them a market value. I don't know what kind of boat you are looking for but if it is a sled check with the guys at Stevens(Tigard) as I have found them really nice to work with.
