Columbia to reopen
I was just in on the conference call between the ODFW and Washington Wildlife. The run size was updated to 440,000 spring chinook.
They will reopen the fishery Wednesday, April 25 - Sunday April 29. There was quite a bit of representation for sport anglers from Liz Hamilton, Buzz Ramsey, and Dan Grogan. There was also representation from the commercial anglers and others there as well.
This is great news as it means that we will be able to intercept these fish at the peak of the run (which may be early) The run estimate is being determined by the 1977 run year as the flows are almost identical between this year and 77.
So get out there and get some more Springers. Also see the posting about the Sandy river Rendezvous, a fishing competition/ fund raiser to help restore the fisheries in the Sandy river.

Oh man.....look out!! I'm changing the name on my boat to Bonehead Magnet. Would you anchor next to me if that was the name on my boat?? Do you suppose this would keep the Boneheads away??

Re: Columbia to reopen
Really? My information suggested that they were not going to reopen the river...so that's great news! What about the ocean? When is it going to open?

Looks like a few of us are going to be burning up sick days next week. Better catch up on the sleep!
