Re: Info on folding anchors please...
Mr.F, I have the small folding anchor i use in the Columbia...I bought it at Fisherman's and it has the connectors at top and bottom, I can't remember if the little chain to connect the two came with it or not but go check it out There is a sleeve at the bottom that comes up to fold it and i use large rubber bands to keep it in place when in use. Good luck!

Re: Info on folding anchors please...
Mr. Fisherman
We have a small one on our skiff and a blasted heavy one on the other boat. They work and store very well. A small section of chain comes with the anchor and you can use a zip tie at the top and still fold the anchor. I had to change the angle of the 'pointy things' by putting it in the slats of the dock and open up the angle a little on the small one. The large one was fine.

Re: Info on folding anchors please...
Thanks for the replies!
I got one . It may be a little big but I don't want to slip.
This is my first rocker style anchor. Any advice?
Thanks again,
Ray

Info on folding anchors please...
I am interested in getting a folding rocker style anchor for use in the Columbia.
Are there folding anchors with the chain attached to the bottom between the rockers allowing you to zip tie or otherwise attach the links down the chain to the top of the anchor so that if you get stuck the zip tie breaks and allows you to retrieve your anchor?
The only one I have seen so far dosen't have an attachment point for the chain between the rockers, only at the top.
I think with my luck I would most likely loose one of these.
Any advice?
Mr. F.

Re: Info on folding anchors please...
I can only speak for my anchor and boat, but I added 8' of heavy chain. The chain helps keep the anchor stem on the bottom, which in turn keeps the points at an angle that they can dig into the bottom. I have a 23' sled, thus the 8'of chain. I would go with no less than 4'for pretty much any boat that is big enough to anchor safely in the Columbia where strong currents are. Once you know the anchor is on bottom, back down aways and give a couple of good tugs on your rope. This helps to get the anchor pointing the right direction before you try to stop in your spot. Re: Info on folding anchors please...
The folding anchors are great. Tie the anchor line to the second link in the chain, cable tie the end link in the chain to the top of the anchor. This is so the cable tie will break if the anchor is hung up when it is pulled backwards. The chain should now run from the bottom of the anchor straight upto the second link from the end which you have your rope or chain attached to and the end link in the chain is cable tied to the top of the anchor. Check that when you pull the anchor line tight that it pulls from the bottom of the anchor, also check that when you pull the anchor line backwards it pulls tight on the cable tie. If the anchor hangs up the cable tie will break and you will be pulling directly on the bottom of the anchor. Cable ties are cheap. Learned the hard way about the second link.
