Default Halibut Fishing

Just wondering if anyone is planning to go Hali fishing on opening day out of Chinook or Ilwaco?

Not until the 4th. I am planning on fishing 4-6th weather and conditions permitting. Lousy tide weekend. However, if weather window is open during the week I may go ahead and sneak out. Pretty flexible right now.

I am coming down on Thurs and will put the hairy eyeball on the weather. I know of at least one other dog and most likely two that will be down.
Like Bernie said, tides are not the best......will stop by clamming weekend and introduce myself. My house is the one on 34th and L with the picket fence around it, next to Jarrod's old house with the blue front door.
Stop by if you see us there.

There are NO halibut out of the CR. Stay home and help the effort to slow global warming by not burning gasoline.I may go just to say I did - but I doubt there are any fish out there!

You are right DEAN. WE did have a tough time finding fish last year. And there sure is not much quota. Perhaps we should head down state a bit.

Yep, there obviously isn't much halibut to be had with the miniscule quota (OK - Ill stop - where is Tom when you need him). Looks like a Garibaldi year for me. I am planning on taking the opening week off work though. Haven't had a day off since November so I'm due. But could be worse - having dinner now in St Augustine, FL - 86 degrees and sunny. If its fishy all week I will be looking for crew that week!

C&E, with your new Glacier Bay I was hoping you, Tom and Dean would show up down here too. Maybe troll for tuna on the way down this Summer.

I tried to leave the CR quota alone last year but Tom insisted the faster we could fill the quota the more the fishery dudes would have to take a look at the allotment for that area. So kill the CR halis I did. I'll be fishing mostly out of Newport for them so anytime you CR guys want a ride just say the word.
