Yaquina was decent 2 weekends ago a lot of red rocks and a couple of keeper dungies for a 6 hour soak while we were fishing outside. If you can get out to the ocean it is much better.

We were down in Newport Saturday and Sunday with the intention of bottom fishing- that did not happen due to the conditions- we did crab on Saturday from 2:00 to 5:30 and picked 17. Started early on Sunday 9:00 and ended at about 1:00 and picked 15 not great but not bad.

I took 7 Boy Scouts out in Windy Bay a couple weeks ago, it was slow. Do you know how hard it is to split one crab with 7 boys who all want a claw? We had a great weekend camping in the sand even with our limited catch. Be Prepared.

Gotta disagree with the "not great", I think that's the best I've heard all season for crab! Certainly better than I've done, even in the ocean.

Hey there!

Spent last Friday in Tillamook bay. VERY tough crabbing. The commercials are planted outside the bay and have been for the last two months. You might avoid this area until the ******* get out. We scratched out a few keepers but that was the exception. Lots of folks out there working really hard for one or none.

Good luck..

5salt, I would bet they were in the Bay. The ocean conditions were not that good and the crabbing in the Ocean has not been good for the small boats, charters or commercials. I saw some guys at the cleaning station a few days before that with 19 dungies and some big red rocks for 4 guys. The looked a little soft but still a good meal.

5- Salt

We were in the Bay both days. Saturday we did all of crabbing off of the big blue/green tank in 30+ foot of water. Sunday we were right out of the marina "jaws" 100-150 yards off of the west jetty and up, be careful to stay out of the channel- we lined our pots and traps up on the red marker on the big dock. I think that is the OSU dock to the East.

Good Luck
