Another SW Bruin!!!
Well, another great weekend of hunting....A great friend came down over the weekend to see if he could fill his additional SW bear tag. He drew the Snake and was lucky enough to pick up an additional SW tag. He was pretty excited because we've been able to connect on a few bears in the last couple years...Heres how the weekend started. We saw several mature gobblers which made us all to excited to arrow them come next Sunday...

Next, at 7:30 that evening, i spotted a giant wild hog with white tipped ears. Problem was he was at least 2 miles away. I took some photos through my spotting scope, but they didn't turn out all that great...I now know where this hog is living and have seen him twice. I also figured out a great place to sit and wait on him that i can actually make a move with limited daylight left...

We ended up seeing 3 bears Saturday evening. One giant bear we watched for a long time but could not get to him. Another smaller bear, and this one..He's a pretty good bear. He just happened to pile up in one of the steepest, brushiest draws we could find.. I think that's what Kevin was aiming for Here's a pic of him through the spotting scope, and then a couple afterwards...

This new spotting scope attachment is awesome..Too bad i don't know how to manipulate them on the computer..

Nice steep country....

I can see that hog picture didn't size correctly, I will try to fix that...Can't wait til gobbler season..The hog is just to the right of that tree. Still cant see it well. But if your computer can zoom in, your in business...

Re: Another SW Bruin!!!
Thats a big bear eh? How long did he square? Way to go getting your friend onto a bear. That country does look steep. How was the pack out with the meat?

Stick Flicker,
No idea what he would square. I would say he was 220-250lbs though. We saw a stud but he winded us before we could get set up on him...

Re: Another SW Bruin!!!
Did you get eaten by the ticks? A couple years ago they were incredibly thick. Last year not so bad. Just curious as I'm headed down in a couple weeks. I don't see any on your bears face so am hoping for not many creepy crawlies.

Re: Another SW Bruin!!!
It had a few ticks on him, but not bad at all. I did get a couple on me from the one i killed last weekend, but his wasn't that bad. I get ticks all the time shed hunting down here though. I think if you beat the brush, odds are your going to encounter the little devils..
