Poll Question (Blazers)
With the NBA playoffs starting I thought we need a snappy slogan for the Blazers Play off run
Heres a few I came up with:
The Portland TrailBlazers
"Watch Rasheed have a melt down"
or
"Anything can happen"
or my favorite
"Here have a Towel"
I know the Sonics aren't going anywhere but at least we have a lottery pick .....and We don't have the Lakers in the first round hehehehe
I'll bet a float trip with any of you Blazer fans who think they'll make it out of the first round......Os

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
I wouldnt take that float bet, I think the sonics would have smoked the jail blazers like a fall chinook on a big chief. I'll probably spend my time wasting time on the wind instead of waisting time watching the lakes win.

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
"I need a miracle" ? ?
Now, Rasheed is one of the players we should KEEP when we CLEAN HOUSE before next year. And Bonzi. Everyone else can go bye-bye. I'm a big Blazer fan! I have identified their basic problem - - - they suck!
Lakers in 4 sounds about right. This season has been a big disappointment. WHAT were they thinking trading away Brian Grant ? ?

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
I concur, the worst move the Blazers ever made was trading Brian Grant. We spent the off season building our team to match up with the Lakers - well, we've done that and now look at how Sacramento and San Antonio are playing. Don't forget keeping Smitty when we 'clean house'.

Rasheed is such a talented player it's a shame he is such a "head problem"
I don't think the coach will survive the "House Cleaning" either....too bad,but not to worry "Trader Bob" will find a way
Btw: you Guys want a good deal on a slightly over weight...way over paid power forward....wait you already have one of those (kemp )......Os

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
Here's another question for you... How many T's can Rasheed pick up in a 5 game series? The Lakers in four NO WAY! It'll take them Five. As for the Sonics they couldn't beat UofW girls team.

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
I heard today that Bob Whitset is going to make a run to get Payton. Yeeaah,
like thats going to do anything positive. Why can't we get some fresh talent that works hard and understands a "team" concept.
Oh wait, we traded him away to Miami so we could get Kemp. JB

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
One team, no steam, that's perfect. I was thinking, One team, One tantrum (per quarter of course). The Blazers have been saving themselves for the playoffs, and they are just going to flip a switch and open up the whoop ass. Yeah, sure. I don't care much, I jumped onto the Sacramento bandwagon 3 seasons back. GO KINGS. Now if they just could change their name from the Kings to the Chinook, I'd be happy. Ya can't use "kings" south of the Columbia, that's a Washington thing. South of the Col. they are Chinook!!

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
A friend alerted me I better get over here to defend our Blazers, Ya, right. ....
Hey Os and Ryan, quit being so jealous! We are very proud of our Blazers.
Our only prob is 'Sheed has been in a shooting slump. That's why he missed with the 'throw in the white towell to mid-court' surrender signal and hit Sabonis in the face instead. This team has more togetherness than the press gives them credit! In fact, Bonzi Wells purposely tore his ACL so Smith and others could get more deserved playing time. Now that's love - and chemistry. ...
Actually, it's true that anything could happen in the playoffs. The Blazers could take a game from the Lakers. But with the not-so-secret-anymore NBA mandate of having the refs give strong advantage to home court teams, 'marquis' players and 'marguis' teams for better TV ratings (includes Shaq, Kobe, and the Lakers all), and that we can't stop those guys even without their refs help, I just don't see an upset. Of course I didn't think they could come from being down 3-1 to an almost incredible upset in game 7 at the Staples Center; but for a 4th quarter
CHOKE. ...
Filthy rich nerd Paul Allen is definitely way into winning the NBA championship! I bet him learning it's not for sale is really bugging the crap right out of him about now. Bob Wit**** too! The ensuing houseclean in the off season will be very interesting indeed. I just hope they give a little more consideration to character and chemistry this time. (Same for Erikson in Corvallis, btw). ...
As for the Sonics ... I doubt they will find a taker for the spent Ewing. And Payton is about to do a meltdown. Of course, not to worry super Sonic fans; you have Wally "Wonder?" Walker to guide your ship ... into an iceberg . ...
As for the NBA? I played B-ball and have been a near life-long fan of the league. But in recent years I've finally gotten turned off big time by the WWF type of set up home court happiness for the 'fans' via the rediculously obvious reffing bias. It's now as obvious as the pro-wrassler punch that misses by 5" and the reciever falls to the mat holding the missed facial! Only the NBA has to allow TV replays to prove it! And of course the character of the jerks that are making multiple millions a year to play is downright assinign. I still watch the NBA, only not as much. I no longer
get upset if the team I perfer to win loses - especially on the road against an average 12 point advantage margin given the home team by the refs, by mandate from the offices in New York. Gettin pretty ugly. And gettin time to watch other sports more than the NBA! - RT

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
Well a lot of it depends on Walton and how he matches up with Kareem. Also is Twardzik healthy or will Johnny Davis be starting at guard with Hollins. Lucas has that sweet 20 footer that the Lakers can't stop with the injury to Kermit Washington and of course Bob Gross moves so well without the ball. With Neal,Steele,Gilliam and Calhoun coming off the bench this team will be tough to beat. My question is just how much time will Ramsay have available for Robin Jones if Walton gets hot.Any of you care to join me at Geneva Jones' after the game? I will be wearing the lime green leisure suit.

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
Payton to Portland ...Ya right...get real.
You can say what you want about Gary but compared to Rasheed he's Mother Teresa
Lakers in 3!!!!!!
Rt ....always sniveling about the refs ....if you score more points than the other team you take the refs out of the equation.
I just don't get it the Blazers have more indivdual talent than anyone else in the league......Thats why it's a team sport.....maybe they should try that concept.....Oh well maybe next year...Os

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
If they do not trade Rasheed over the summer then they might as well write another season off. The team is fed up with their go-to guy (and he's just that) not being able to keep himself in the game when they need him most.
However, to get rid of the team around him and bring in new players isn't the right thing either. Rasheed does not like Portland, there's no doubt about it. He doesn't have a house here, instead having a small apartment that is enough to park himself in when he's in town. He goes against his contract and refuses to talk to the media, primarily because they call him on his immaturity.
Pippen has said that Rasheed can be the best player in the league if he wanted to, and I agree. You cannot be the best player if you cannot control your rage on the court.
So, in order to straighten things out on the team the following will need to happen:

Rasheed still has incredible market value, so trade him. I'd love a three-way deal to make up for the Brian Grant/Shawn Hemp deal to bring Chris Webber into Portland, but that's fantasy time. Sabonis is likely to retire this summer to keep his wife off of the roads, so we need a center. Bradley is available, but...? Or how about Wallace for Mutombo? *drool*

Hire an assistant for Schremph to help him fill out his retirement paperwork. He doesn't do pregame shootarounds anymore and doesn't give a damn about what happens on the team.

Re-sign Antonio Harvey

Make up mind between Strickland and Stoudemire. Both on same team is recipe for disaster.

KEEP Dunleavy. That the Blazers when this long without a meltdown is a testiment to his abilities. Get rid of Wallace and we're back in the running.
Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
Sure am glad I don't have to fall back on Bill Walton as my only nba memory for my team .
Since Portland like to sign ex-Sonic hasbeens, I figure Sabby retires so your after....big Pat in the middle. That ought to solve some problems, yeah, right.
Starting front line of Ewing, Kemp, and Schrempf. I like it! If you ask around, you can probably find Vinny Askew and get him out of his burger flippin job to come play.
Lets face it. Both cities need a total makeover before they're ready to compete.
Hey, you guys want a new GM? I think you can get ours pretty cheap.

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
Actually Stew, if you must know, I grew up with Spencer Haywood, Downtown Freddie Brown, Paul Silas as the enforcer, Gus/Dennis Johnson, and yes, Jack. They were all cool guys. I didn't start disliking Walton until he tried to become an announcer. Combine him with Jim Grey and Peter Vescey and NBC has the trio of my least favorite.
So you want to try to pick on the Dawgs this early in the season huh? Just remember, crap flows downhill and Oregon is BELOW Washington.

You know Rasheed wants to go back to Philly so we might as well deal for Iverson. We could sweeten the deal and unload Kemp. Hey it worked with Rider to Atlanta. Webber is not an option, he hates Portland.

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
oh yea of little faith....does anyone remember back about 6 weeks ago when the meltdown started.....?
was clyde drexler night and strickland and detlef started whining about playing time?
at that time portland was in 1st place in the conference. we have the talent, we have the experience, we have the desire. i believe if the portland players get their heads out of their ports they can beat l.a.
its pretty much riding on the first game.
just my 2 cents worth...i'll be listening while crabbin at the coast
it aint the catchin.....its the fishin..

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
ANOTHER guard? You a Phoenix fan or something?
I doubt that Philly would let Iverson go, but let's say they're game for the trade. You're probably going to have to get rid of Damon since he hates coming off the bench. I still believe that the Strickland deal was a horrible idea, as he is a cancer to any team he plays on. Bad attitude to the extreme. That leaves Greg Anthony to back Iverson up, and Greg will get a lot of minutes the way Iverson gets beaten up during the year.
It's an interesting scenerio, but Philly would be hard-pressed to get rid of their Iverson.

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
I'd hate to see Webber here, I'm a Kings fan. Besides, if he is bored to death in Sac., he would really hate Portland. Deal Stoudamire, Rasheed, and Smith for Mutombo, Snow, and Lynch or Hill. Or Rasheed and someone for Vince Carter? Isn't he up for free agency next year? Lakers in 4, unfortunately.

Re: Poll Question (Blazers)
I was born and raised here and a die hard Blazer fan since the team started. However,
I'm with RT, I'm sick of everything about the NBA now, the refs, the players, the owners, the money, it's just sick. It used to be pretty good entertainment, now it's just a bunch of crap.
I say let's get rid of the NBA and get some quality fishin' shows back on the air! I would rather watch Scott Kappas of the HOT TAMALE OUTDOOR SHOW then a bunch of whinng mega-millionaire headcases worried about having to go out and work 12 minutes of their 42 minute day!
I hope the stinkin' Faker's win in 3 and put our team out of their own misery!
Attention Paul Allen: Put your money to better use...BUY OUT GILLNETS!
FISHING=More entertainment value than the NBA!
