Default Tin Man: Yamaha T8 Modifications?

Lets try this again... I have a Yamaha T8 and I have heard that you can modify it so that your warm water discharge can empty into your washdown tub or into a bucket. Has anyone had any experience doing this.... Thanks

When I picked up my boat, my T8 had a little black hose that ran into the bracket that held the motor to my boat. In the bottom of the bracket was a place to put a drift boat plug so you could fill up the bracket with warm water. Here is the thing I didn't have a clue about is that you need to put a valve on that hose and not just let it run all the time when the kicker is on like I did for a long time. If you do, you end up making oil cause the motor doesn't ever achieve the proper temp. Nice.....

Anyway, yea it's pretty easy to do but make sure you can stop that flow of water with a valve or something or you will be draining oil from your motor every year cause it get's over full. I find that I don't even use it anymore cause it really was just a novelty that soon lost it's appeal.

Tin Man, welcome to the board. My moniker is Tinman, so there might be some confusion.

Cal Portland Performance Marine. they sell a zillion T8s a year. After that many hot hands box installs, I would think they are a great place to start.

Mike,
if yours run all the time, your oil level will always be high and it will smell like gas. When you drain the oil, you can actually see the gas in a jar. Until you get a valve or something of the such, just change the oil and pinch and zip tie the hose.
