Default Who gets the Columbia Springers?

Well, now that the Columbia is closed to sport fisher(persons)I was wondering who gets the hatchery fish that we as tax payers and licensed fisher(persons) payed for? The last time I looked at the counts going over the Bonneville Dam they were up in the 14,000 to 15,000 range and most of those are supposed to be hatchery fish. So, I guess we just sit here and watch them go by. I thought the idea was to let the natives go spawn and to harvest the hatchery fish. Am I the only one who thinks that there is something that smells fishey in Denmark or should I say the Columbia? Please no slams or argueing, lets keep it light, OK? Thanks.........Fishhead Vic

I know where they are. The Native American gillnet season opened on the Columbia yesterday and they began selling them along highway 84 today. I know several people who said they go up there every year to buy salmon. I just can't support that industry, and ask everyone I know to boycott it as well.

Every August I want to stop at the Salmon
"vendors" at Cascade Locks and say:

"Howdy, if I buy this Salmon will you give me that Wild Steelhead laying dead there for
free?" " I let it go unharmed and healthy downstream!"
