Re: Ad for Joes sporting goods
Well, yeah, when G.I. Joe's started they DID sell army surplus stuff, mostly, though that original store (on North Vancouver?) made most of its money, I suspect, selling cigarettes at lower, taxless Oregon prices to nearby Washingtonians.
And the rest is Joehistory.
There have been a number of evolutions through the years. I remember basic hardware, toys, and kitchen items in the Beaverton store in the 70s.
It always seemed like the biggest auto parts store around but the "auto" part seems to be getting squeezed out. The old "G.I. Joe's Sports and Auto" has turned into "Joe's Sports, Outdoor, and More."
Times change, I guess.
