Default How is the crabbing?

With the closure on the Columbia, I would imagine that the Willamette will be a real zoo this weekend. I was wondering if anyone had done any crabbing down at Tillamook or Nehalem? I thought I might avoid the zoo and go get some crab and do some jetty fishing. Any reports?

I think Grits did Tillamook last weekend. He got like 15 or so. Maybe Grits could fill us in. We are finally getting some rain so the bays have some fresh water in them. This is not good for crabbin.

The trout opener is in a couple of weeks. The rainbows usually get the brunt of the springer frustration/fever. The nice thing about Oregon is that some fish or other is always in season.

Went to T-bay on Saturday and ended up with 16. Most of them were caught at low slack and I wasn't able to stay through high slack to see how productive it was. There was hardly anybody in the bay because everybody is chinook fishing but the 3 other boats that I talked to hadn't done very well. 2 of the boats got 1 a piece and the other boat had 7. They were all using fish as bait and I was using turkey legs with a can of tuna. We had to add more bait after an hour and a half because there were so many sub legals eating it up. The good news is I only threw a couple back because they were soft and the rest were nice and firm. If you go let me know how you did, I think you are right on about how crazy it will be on the Willamette this weekend.
