Default Thanking God for his protecting hand

I wanted to put this on the Chapel page to thank God for his love and mercy. The pictures are after we cleaned out some of the burned stuff and mess. I am humbled by his grace and provision. If we had been gone when this fire started we would have lost our home. Without HIS protection and working smoke detectors the results could have been tragic. The following is the story I posted on community page.

I am putting this on the community page so the most people will see it. We were in Idaho the last two days watching my oldest son's baseball games at Lewis & Clark State Col. We got home late Saturday night, tired and ready to sleep in our own bed. Around 2PM were waken by an alarm going off, thought it was the Army Depoe system going off at first, then realized I could smell smoke. Ran down the hall to find my wife's scrape book room just bursting into flames. Yelled at her to call 911 and got a pitcher of water X2 and was able to suppress the flames. By now house was full of smoke and hard to breath. Fire department showed up a few minutes later to pump smoke out of the house. If we had not been home we would have lost everything, God was very very good to us . Just a couple of pictures to show how close we came. Another few seconds and I would not have been able to suppress the flames. All we lost was a few pictures and other replacable items.

Without God's protecting hand and good working smoke detectors we would have lost almost everything and became a statistic ourselves. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I AM YELLING AT YOU TO MAKE SURE YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS WORK!!!!! We are just so thankful to God our savior that this was the extent of our loss.

Chug, it was an embossing tool used by scrap bookers. It was plugged in but had not been used for several days. It was melted into a almost unrecognizable mess, power strip along with it. Fire marshal took it to examine more closely. I posted another picture on ifish general page that shows table that caused burn pattern. Have talked with several people today that either had no smoke detectors or had taken batteries out due to always going off for no reason. Don't do it, make sure they are in working order. I am YELLING THIS TO WHOEVER WILL LISTEN. If even one person benefits by this by finding detectors inoperable or who decide to refresh their batteries, our loss will be worth it. God was definitely merciful, just need to get the word out, fire is such a tragedy when it gets out of hand and we were just a few seconds from a total loss.

You are blessed. Power strips are trouble. Caused lots of fires at accounting offices, just from small loads. They get hotter, and hotter and hotter. Instead use a Surge Protector strip, rated for what you use. Just a few more bucks. Again, looks like a blessing to me.

Folks! look at what you are using for video, computer, etc. If it says "Power Strip" replace it, especially after seeing this.
