Default Drift Boat - Alumaweld Rogue River Special

Does anyone have one of these or has used one? Just wondering your opinions on how they row. I know they motor well due to the large flat spot on the bottom. Thinking about getting a larger drift boat.

They have a longer flat spot...would track better for plugging, etc. I personally think a boat with more rocker is better in big white water

I have a friend that purchased a Rogue River Special from Brett Clark at Rogue River Boat Shop in Grants Pass last spring. He used it at Agness all summer. He likes the way it fishes.

I prefer a big motor hanging off the back of a sled over a drift boat.

I do enjoy going with other people in their drift boats. I just don't like rowing.

I should have added...they're very good boats. For the water we fish it would be great. If you start to run the canyon (and you will) then you might want to put spray guards on the front. What's the matter with your old boat? I like it!

Thanks Grantspastor!...I think it is a little unstable - not dangerous but just gets moved around a little too easy. My dad has bad knees and it is a little tipsy for him. I also want a floor with full board diamond plate to have a totally flat floor...can wear my spiked boots on that diamond plate also. I think you are right...the downside to the RR special would be that it is not as maneuverable.

I have the Simms studded aquastealth boots (little spikes). I will take that into consideration Sled...thanks for the info. I wonder what the best floor surface would be for this???

By spiked boot I am assuming that you mean corks.
If this is what you want to wear DON"T. Your feet will stick to the floor that will help throw you off balance. If you don't set your foot down strait or you drag your foot or something of that nature you will have lots and lots of tiny little burs. Then when or if you or someone else want's to go barefooted in your boat their feet will get torn up, so will your knees if you are on them dealing with a fish or anything else. If my assumption is wrong disreguard what I have just mentioned. If you do mean corks then please don't wear them especially if you have kids in your boat that like to go bare footed and play on the floor durring a long drift. Take this from a personal experience. My son tore up his feet because of my having worn cork on the aluminum diamond plated floor of our old drifter.
