Default T-Bay area lings?

The forecast it looking ok for Sunday so we are thinking about T-Bay bottom fishing. I know down by 3 arches for bass, but do you fish the same area for lings? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default Re: T-Bay area lings?

The same area can be quite good for lingcod as well. Different tactics can help to target lings. Large plastics, scampi style or swimbaits fished right on the bottom. Big bait works pretty well too, mackerel of about a pound, sand dabs, black label sized herring, mooched on the bottom or a few feet off.

Ron M will harness up a small blue or black rockfish and mooch it near the bottom, I have seen him connect on a pretty big ling with this. IF there is much of a drift, the bigger the bait, the harder it is to keep it down.

In that area I like to throw diamond bars, about 4-6 ounces, casting as far up drift as I can, and working them back to the boat. Lings like this. Best of luck to you.
