Central Oregon sporting clays
Redmond gun club is shooting sporting clays Sat, 4/7, starting about 9 am. Only $12 for 60 birds, 6 stations. Let's get some ifishers squaded up together and powder clay!

If I showed up, could I fire a round from your .300 Ultra Mag?? It would almost be worth the trip just to experience firing one of these incredible loads you have developed for it.
I normally shoot nothing heavier than standard .30-06 loads, and shoot my .270 more than I do my .30-06 And I've never shot any Ultramag caliber.
What is the address of the range? With that info, we could all then use Mapquest to get a map to it.

The loads are nothing incredible, just what the rifle will digest, well below book max. The recoil is another story. The complete rifle including scope and sling is less than 7#, loaded. Even with a brake it's ferocious. If you're serious I'll bring it to the June shoot, save you the rifle range fee at Redmond.

I don't have the address, but it's super easy to find. Hwy 126 goes east out of Redmond to Powell Butte and Prineville. The range is about a mile out of Redmond on the north side of the road. There is a reader board out front. The end of the airport runway is to the south.

Re: Central Oregon sporting clays
The day started off pretty good, with Slamminkokes, Lucky Guy, Lance in Oregon, Gene and I on a squad. The course was pretty good, doable but challenging. We were all having fun until the last station, when the skies opened. A forcasted 70 degree clear day turned monsoon! We got raingear and huddled up for a few minutes, hoping it would pass, and finally just got-er-done. Gene and Brian had the good sense to leave, the rest of us stood around thinking about it until it slacked off a little, then shot another round. I had a good time, even being damp. Ifishers are good people! I know Lucky Guy is hooked on clays, and I'm pretty sure Slamminkokes will be back as well. The chukars will regret all the practice next fall .
The next shoot is 4/21, and I'm told it will be a 100 bird course. They're aiming for at least 12 stations. See you there!

Re: Central Oregon sporting clays
Hey Mark, that was fun, great idea.
Slamminkokes, Lance and Gene, it was good to meet you guys. Thanks for making the drive.
Having three SC rounds under my belt now (all at Redmond), the set up yesterday was harder than the first round I shot there a couple of weeks ago. The only thing I can see that might work for that true double crossing between the junipers would be a 16" stage gun! Anybody making 10 gauge shells in #9?
Let's do it again in two weeks.
Lucky
