Default Lawmakers of one of the most hunter friendly states "CONSIDER" stricter gun laws

Since I hunt whitetail in Pennsylvania, I try to keep up on what is happening there. Here are some changes being considered , the bill has not passed yet. Thought some of you may be interested in new gun bills being worked on around the country.

1) The new bill would punish gun owners who fail to report a gun lost or stolen, meaning a fine if the failure to report was unintentional , or even criminal charges if gun owners lose a gun and purposefully fail to tell police.

2) AK47 would be outlawed by the bill.

3) Other measures in the bill include limiting gun buyers to purchasing just one handgun a month.

4) It would also require trigger locks or locked boxes for guns in homes where there are children.

Thanks for the interest Limbhanger, I will get the info you requested, It may take me a day or so, I have a full schedule.

Sending e-mails from out of state may work in this case. PA. has shown a very high sensitivity to out of state hunters needs in the past.

One quick comment about part of the bill making it a crime not to report stolen guns. The police report that up to 90% of guns recovered that were used in crimes in Pittsburgh, PA. are stolen.

Hmmm, I see that Governor Rendell recently said that no sane person would be against this proposal.

Therefore, we must all be nuts!!

Very strange logic is being used here to justify jailing people for having their property stolen. The victim is now made out to be the outlaw.

How is doing that going to prevent any real crime??

Lance,

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I am both very busy with work and also overwhelmed by the amount of information on the new gun laws in PA. Seems PA. is under attack and the information that I was sent and posted above is an overview of a total of 7 new gun bills in the works. Lots of information to chew through.

Here is a link to the PA. General Assembly. You can find all of the lawmakers here as well as the gun bills by going to the box "Find legislation here", type in "gun" as the key word.

http://www.legis.state.pa.us/

Also, here is a link to the PA. Firearm Owners Association web site. Might give someone here some ideas that would help us fight our battles.

Here is a link the the PA. Firearm Owners Association forum that is set up similiar to Ifish.

Let me know if you need more info. Glad to help fight this battle anyway I can...

Dan
