What a story, sometimes things happen. I can think of a lot worse ways to go then fighting one last salmon. Your friend was 100% correct (IMO) that he would want you to continue fishing.

Sorry to hear that your's and the EMT's efforts did not work. But it is nice knowing that there are fellow fishermen out there who would jump right in and least try and help. That's one fishing experience i don't think i would like to have. Welcome

Thanks for the warm welcome.It was pretty crazy. My buddy Shon that was with me lost his grandpa to a heartatack they own the doller hole property on the Siuslaw when they found him down there he had a steelhead on bank.

Finaly getting better at pecking on this keyboard my name is stephen i fish for anything summers,winters,springers,fallchinook,mackinaw, you name it. my story kind of sad but i always think about it.I was down at winchester bay fishing for coho it was early in the moring i see this guy come down start fishing next to me it was a lovly day no wind blue skys minus tide winchester was flat like a lake. bam this guy hooks a fish i tell him right on ,he's fighting it when he all the sudden hands the pole off to this other guy i'm thinking thats cool of him to do when all the sudden he fell to the ground i ran up to him to see he was having a heartattack i start yelling for help two guys run up and we start cpr the parmadics showed up and tried everthing to save him but he didn't make it i was pretty upset looking at him with his chinook the other guys landed laying next to him i told my friend i didn't want to fish after they took him away he told me this is almost what happened to his grandpa and that guy would want me to fish,so i start fishing and my frist cast was fish on a nice 16pound fincliped coho i look down the bank and every one just about has got fish on i had to smile it was like that guy told GOD to turn the bite on. somethhig i'll never forget.
