Default Rubber coating lead?

Has anyone used the rubber coating dip that is used on tool handles for covering lead? I think it would work like surgical tubing but maybe even better. Any suggestions?

I have used weights like that and I think it cushions the hit with the rocks in your drift. You will feel less bottom and more hits. But it still doesn't compare to using slinkies. my .02

I have done it to my backbouncing (cannon ball) leads and am very pleased with the results. The rubber stays on for quite a while however I havn't tried it on any drift rigs, sounds like a good idea though.

About 5 years ago I bought a bunch of can of it that was outdated for real cheap. I dipped cannon balls 3 times to make it nice and thick. Works great for color differential if you have guys in the boat that don't have a clue. When it is time to change sizes, you just tell them to put on a yellow or red or green or whatever you want them set up for. I know that someone netted my 40+lber down at the jaws one day. We broke it off trying to net it. It was seen by several people belly up with a 6oz yellow cannon ball hanging below it. I was told later at the dock that someone eventually got a net around it and was wondering about the yellow weight. I turned out a pile of them with hopes of making $$$ selling them to guides. Never did, but a few of my buddies still have them in use.
