Default Salty Dog Group MMSI #

I think I remember reading about a north coast group #. But what about a central coast group # for DSC. Just got a new radio and started playing around with it, I think this is gonna be a nice feature. So I guess the question is if I missed a previous discussion about this or if it's something anyone else wants?

I think my radio is DSC capable and I don't have it hooked up yet either. I think a Salty Dog group number is a great idea.

I dont think there was really a group No. as much as just sharing your number with those that you wanted to. It is a great feature and you can find a buddy without him having to tell you his numbers!

Actually I think you can set up hunt groups for various locations that you fish and you can keep in contact by selecting those group numbers. example:

group 2 south coast

1 henry
2 jack
3 ralph

group 1 central coast

1 ishtar
2 mujibur
3 cowboy
4 pickles

group 3 CR

1 skunked
2 loser
3 snivelure
4 anti-tuna

The guy to actually talk with and I am sure he gets tired of being ask, is Keywest. He's a techie geek and has a catalog of knowledge when it comes to this stuff. I think ODIN has a pretty good handle on this too but he is up in years so..........what was I going to say?....a.....well.......he might still know something.

We do have a north coast group number, but I can't recall it ever being used. Its use is to request everyone in the group to switch to a different radio channel - not a situation one finds oneself in very often.

I would agree with Tracker - it's more important to hook up with individuals in your area and get their individual number. I started collecting number with the thought of sharing them, but quickly found out that most folks want to be selective about who has their number. So it's best to contact folks directly.
