So what does this mean to sportsanglers? Good or Bad?

Steve has a deep, facile understanding of the fisheries and seasons that few can match. Ask him about 1984 or 1998 and he can give details of the fish runs, the people involved and the regulatory process which will astound you. He brought a professional dignity to the regulatory process which I truly admire. It will be hard to fill his shoes.

This is not only a huge loss for the fisheries department but a huge loss to all fishing groups. Of course the fish might be in more trouble now that he will have more time to chase them! :grin:

I think he will be missed.
This thread will get back to him eventually, so I'd like to extend my sincere thanks to him for his efforts for fisherys and sportsmen over the years. I don't know Steve although I've often shared the water with him in the spring where he is thought of as a class act.
