Default Help a seasoned beginner

I need some input-----Want to try and fish the Multnomah channel the first part of the week. Never fished there. What would you tell a beginner who wants to fish that area? What would work there? Thought of herring wrapped Kwikfish, hardware and prawns. Where would I launch to fish around Coon Island? Sure would appreciate some info. What color of K-fish and how would you rig them? Thank in advance.

I prefer the St. helens ramp when fishing the lower channel. Not much parking so get there early. Try trolling hearing, full or cut plug. I've seen a lot of hookups on K-14's. Mostly ancored when kwickfishing. I have had some good action on kwickfish also. I consider them a novice lure. This means I can get them to work. I guess I hav'nt figured out the setup on hearing to acheive the perfect roll.

Good Luck

For boat ramp access ideas as well as a lot of other good tips I'm referring you to Bill Monroes column on page 2 of this mornings (Sunday April 1st) Oregonian. A lot of people anchor fish the slough but I prefer downstream trolling with a hot pink prawn on a 4/0 hook. For anchor fishing, my lst choice is a K-14 Kwikfish with a SARDINE filet (but I'm ready to try the NEW K-13!) My favorite color is chome with a chartreuse lip. Downstream trolling with a small herring also works well. Please be courteous to other anglers when running back upstream to start your next run.
